It's been nearly three weeks since President Donald Trump was sworn into office for the second time, and Elon Musk's influence is already being felt throughout the federal government. Musk and his DOGE "cowboy coders" are currently working to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development, drastically reduce the federal workforce, gut the Department of Education, access sensitive government databases and more. But Democrats are finally starting to push back against his aggressive efforts, as advocates and lawmakers rally against Musk's possibly illegal actions. There has also been a flurry of court orders temporarily blocking various key elements of Trump's agenda.
From the Oval Office, Trump continues to sign an ongoing series of executive orders, including a directive to ban trans women from women's sports. On Tuesday, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump claimed the United States will "take over" and "own" Gaza, leveling it and creating "an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area." It remains unclear how and when that would happen.
And this afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off — again — in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Trump is planning to attend the game, making him the first sitting U.S. president to attend the NFL's national championship.
