The Democratic senator won his re-election bid against Walker, the scandal-plagued, Trump-backed political neophyte.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday night, NBC News projected that Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock had prevailed in his Senate runoff bid against Republican Herschel Walker. The win in Georgia gave Democrats a key 51-49 edge in the Senate and, notes Ja'han Jones, brought an end to Walker's "tortured" campaign.
"Warnock, Georgia's first Black senator, largely let Walker's often incoherent words speak for themselves, a strategy that in the end benefited him greatly. Walker's rambling speeches became prime campaign material for Warnock and his surrogates," writes Jones. But perhaps "the most shameful moment in the Walker campaign came in late October, when Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., basically admitted he was a token Black candidate used to make the GOP look less racist."
That GOP effort, like Walker's campaign, failed spectacularly. Read Ja'han Jones' full analysis in your Wednesday MSNBC Daily. |
