Trump attorney John Eastman may have assumed he knew what Justice Clarence Thomas would do.

The desperation of former President Donald Trump's legal team has always been known, but the depths of that desperation came into better focus this week, Jessica Levinson says. Email messages reveal Trump's team hoped a lawsuit sure to fail in Georgia would lead to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas granting an emergency appeal. Not only were Trump's lawyers throwing a Hail Mary pass, Levinson said, they were doing so "in a sort of 'Alice in Wonderland' alternative reality in which Thomas would assist in anointing their client as the leader of the free world."
