All the theories about why Elon Musk wanted to buy Twitter — a sincere desire to improve it, he was excessively bored, etc. — have given way to an obvious reality since he purchased the social media platform, Zeeshan Aleem writes. Musk, Aleem says, "views Twitter as a platform for advancing his political agenda as a figure with increasingly pronounced far-right views."
Some of the chaos his Twitter ownership has ushered in is confusing, especially his back and forth over how the platform will verify its users, but there's now a glaring and sinister goal in mind, Aleem continues: "diluting the power of left-leaning media, and boosting misinformation and disinformation."
