Now all eyes turn to Nevada, which is still counting votes.

Late Friday night, NBC News projected that Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona had successfully fended off a challenge from the Trump and Peter Thiel-backed Republican Blake Masters. The win brings Democrats one step closer to control of the Senate, with 49 confirmed seats. Now all eyes turn to Nevada, which is still counting votes. "Most polling leading up to Election Day showed Kelly with a consistent but increasingly narrow lead over Masters, who was running his first political campaign," writes Ja'han Jones, "and it showed." While Kelly campaigned as a steady moderate, Masters promoted Trump's false election claims and other conspiracies, and at times seemed to waffle on key policy stances like abortion. "Big money Republicans cut back on donating to his campaign on multiple occasions, showing a loss of faith in him just months out from the campaign. But Masters carried himself with arrogance that seemed to rub voters the wrong way, and Kelly capitalized on that haughtiness," writes Jones.
