The Supreme Court's reversal of Roe has Democrats speaking out about abortion like never before.

The Supreme Court's decision overturning Roe v. Wade has resulted in very few positive outcomes. But one of the few, writes Hayes Brown, is that "politicians can't hide on abortion anymore." When Roe was the law of the land, "most Democrats preferred to focus less on abortion itself than the possibility that a conservative Supreme Court might upend precedent," Brown argues, while Republicans "bent over backward to pretend" that gutting the decision wasn't their goal. How times change. "Democrats are centering abortion in a way they've previously dodged," Brown writes. And on the other side of the aisle, "Republicans are divided but lack the cover to run their mouths that Roe gave them." Some, like former vice president Mike Pence, are eagerly embracing abortion bans, while others, like Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters, are scrambling to pretend they're more moderate. Whatever the stance, Brown concludes, "after years of being able to coast on promises, the GOP doesn't seem to enjoy being so clearly exposed."
