We have diverse cultures, varied traditions and we speak many languages, yet across the globe people share two things in common: our past and our future.

HISTORY® invites young people across the world to join us for MANKIND CONNECTED: A Global Teach In on Thursday, November 8th, at 12pm EST. In conjunction with the new 12-hour epic series Mankind The Story of All of Us, premiering on November 13, this live online event will explore our shared human story by learning about UNESCO World Heritage sites throughout the world.

What is a World Heritage site, and what makes each so important? What are the keys to our history, and how can we map the future by learning more about the past? This Teach In will feature a panel of historians and special guests, with participation from students around the world.

Registration is free. Sign up today!

The Teach In will be broadcast live and archived for later viewing for those unable to watch live. To view the webcast, simply log on to www.history.com/classroom at 12pm ET/9am PT on November 8th to watch the presentation as it unfolds. Visit the website again to watch the archived version.

Check out the series premiere of Mankind The Story Of All Of Us on Tuesday, November 13, at 9/8c in the U.S. (Check local listings for international premiere dates).

Note: We are looking for a few schools to participate in the Teach-In through short pre-taped segments. This will be a fun and easy classroom project and way for your students to play a role in this global event. Email us at classroom@aetn.com if you are interested in participating.
The Men Who Built America
Tuesday, October 23rd, at 9/8c

Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford—these names are synonymous with innovation, big business and the American Dream. These leaders created incredible advances in technology while struggling to consolidate their industries and rise to the top of the business world. The Men Who Built America tells the story of these men and their roles in shaping American society. Meanwhile, an assortment of other iconic Americans—from Abraham Lincoln to Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Edison to Nikola Tesla, even Mark Twain—play important and at times unlikely roles in this grand story

The Men Who Built America chronicles the connections between these five men, and explores the way they shaped the country, transforming the U.S. into a global superpower in a span of just 50 years. Tracing their roles in the oil, steel, railroad, auto and financial industries, this series uses stunning CGI and little-known stories to examine the lives of these iconic tycoons. How did these leaders advance progress, and what were the costs and consequences of American industrial growth? This series is an excellent companion for course units on business, American history, and the Industrial Revolution.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund:
Participate in the Reading of the Names on the Wall in Your Community

In November, many will gather at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for the official Reading of the Names event. This is only the 5th time this has been done—this year the Reading of the Names marks the 30th Anniversary of the Wall. There are currently 58,282 names on The Wall. The reading will begin Nov. 7 and last for four days leading up to Veterans Day.

This year, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund has asked communities nationwide to read names in their own towns, record it and share the videos. It will be national thank you and welcome home to all of our Vietnam veterans. Schools, universities, museums, veterans groups, sports teams and towns are joining in this effort to create a national tribute to our Vietnam veterans. Anyone can participate and send the videos to VVMF. The videos will be posted on our website and social media pages.
